Cooking by Candlelight: A Halloween Soirée in Bordeaux

Dates: Friday, October 30th/ Saturday, October 31st (2026)
Time: 6 pm- Midnight
Venue: Private home in Bordeaux center (meeting point provided after booking)

Spend an enchanted evening cooking an autumnal French feast by candlelight in a historic Bordeaux apartment.

We’ll meet at a crypt (and descend if you dare!) where saints and centuries of mysteries and legends lie hidden. Then we’ll take a short stroll in the dark night air, passing the glowing windows of artisans.

As we stir and sprinkle around the table, we’ll turn the treasures of the forest into a magical plant-based dinner — wild mushrooms, chestnuts, pears simmered in red wine…then linger over a slow dinner.

Dress to meet the Ghost of Honor. Hint: The Roaring 20s

Alcoholic drinks are not included but feel free to bring your own bottle (or two!) of wine or preferred libations to enjoy throughout the evening.

Spots are limited. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after booking.

If you are coming from out-of-town and would like to make a weekend of it in Bordeaux, please send me a message at terpstrasarala@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to share recommendations!

Michigan Cooking Class & Garden Party SOLD OUT

French cooking class Grand Rapids Michigan Sarala Terpstra

Date: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026
Time: 6 pm-10 pm
Venue: Private home in Walker, Michigan (address provided after booking)

Details:
As a Grand Rapids native, I am so excited to host this special pop-up cooking class in Michigan! I’ve been living in France for 5 years, where I host cooking classes and historical tours in the beautiful city of Bordeaux.

But Michigan summers will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to visiting at this time of year. Let’s
bid au revoir to the season with a fun evening of eating, drinking, cooking, and celebrating. Join me for a plant-based, French-inspired cooking class followed by dinner together around a beautiful garden table.

We’ll begin the evening with an apéro—the French tradition of gathering before dinner with a drink and light bites, as we cook together. We’ll create a seasonal starter, main course, and dessert using fresh ingredients inspired by French cuisine.

One complimentary glass of wine is included, and you’re welcome to bring your favorite bottle to enjoy throughout the evening.

Unfortunately, this class is currently sold out. Please send me a message at the contact form below if you’d like to attend, and I will let you know if a space becomes available!
